From Paris to Chicago
Born and raised in France, Isabelle studied art and ethnology before moving to Chicago in her twenties. After more than two decades working in the interior design industry, she founded Isabelle Gougenheim Designs in 2017.
French roots
Isabelle grew up in a mountain town in eastern France, where the name “America” first appeared on a map. She studied art and ethnology at Les Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg.
A LIFE OF EXPLORATION
Her curiosity about different cultures took her to Morocco, where she spent six months living with Berber communities. In her twenties, she moved to Chicago, where the city's energy, architecture, and urban landscapes became a lasting source of inspiration.
FROM ART TO FASHION
After more than two decades in the interior design industry, Isabelle founded Isabelle Gougenheim Designs in 2017, bringing her original artwork beyond the canvas and into the world of fashion.
The artistic practice
A world of color
Inspired by the color and rhythms of urban life, Isabelle creates layered mixed-media compositions that explore movement, memory, and the connections between places.
Working with acrylic, spray paint, ink, collage, and her signature stitching, she transforms raw canvas into richly textured works of art.
